Created as part of an annual “100 Day Project” for the first 100 days of 2024, each butter wrapper features an acrylic abstract family portrait. (See entire project and project statement here.)

Each wrapper went through a triple-step (soap, vinegar bath, soap) wash and rinse before dried and painted. Some wrappers may include a small tear or two, creases, or wrinkles in paint.

Since 2021, this 100 Day Project annual tradition has become my favorite as it encourages me to be creative every day while not taking myself so seriously through the use of materials that some -perhaps many- might opt to toss out instead of utilize. Sharing online and later posting for sale has become part of the process as it forces me to share imperfect work, usually in a medium I’m not as comfortable with, and work through my discomfort in pricing/selling/shipping original artwork.
