When New York City went into quarantine at the onset of COVID-19 in March, 2020, my husband and myself (like so many other families around the world) were suddenly negotiating working from home alongside an unlikely colleague: our 1 1/2 year old son, Sam. Thinking that we would only be home for a month or two, I began photographing Sam daily and sharing on social media daily. It is a bittersweet documentation of how we sheltered in place until we felt it was safe (ish?) for him to return to daycare could no longer juggle full-time jobs and full-time childcare. When Sam went back to daycare, I self-published a book documenting all 231 days of 2020 that Sam spent (largely) at home.
