This is 3 Complete Set (13 Double-Sided Riso Prints)
First (and likely only) Edition deconstructed “This is 3” zine includes a complete set of 13 double-sided three color Risograph prints hand printed on smooth 80lb. FSC certified (for responsible forestry) paper by Liz at the SVA RisoLAB.
8ish inches x 10ish inches (while close, some print sizes might not be a true 8x10) are held in a cut to size manila file folder hand painted by Liz and Sam. Each cover is unique to Sam’s artistic contribution. ;)
“This is 3” zine is a documentation of the fun (and funny) things Sam, my three-year-old has said (oftentimes over. and. over. again.) throughout the year. As his artwork is constantly changing and rotating around our walls, I wanted a two-sided print to provide the same option for change and rotation for yours.
This complete set of prints includes:
I want to see a rainbow. | Waiting is hard.
Red and blue are my favorite. | I like red and blue.
Because I like firetrucks. | Because I like trains.
Come see mine eyes. | I’m talking to you.
Is it my birthday yet? | It’s taking a long time.
No nibbles, okay? | Just hugs.
I’m not laughing, Max. | You’re not listening to me.
When did you get your vagina? | Can I see it?
Can I show you my penis? | Can you show me your penis?
Talk better. | I don’t like that talk.
It’s not my favorite. | Strawberries, ice-cream, and cake are my favorite.
Mom, why did you say fuck? | I’m not going to say “What the fuck” anymore, Mom.
I don’t know too. | It’s nuffin’.
Like I’ve tried to explain to my Dad (many, many times): Risograph (aka Riso) is like screen printing, except I create my files digitally before sending to the Japanese born Riso machine that he thinks is an office copier. As each color is added one layer at a time, slight registration variations can occur between prints and it’s not uncommon for roller marks or even slight ghosting of images and/or text to occur. I’ve come to embrace the uncontrollable but please know that if it’s too wild of a mis-registration or too dark of roller mark, it’s put in the test print pile - which oddly enough, often winds up being my favorite prints of all! Your print has been thoroughly inspected to ensure the registration (or intentional mis-registration) is to my liking. Hoping you enjoy this print as much as I enjoyed making it! Thank you!
